Although I have been a creative person all my life, jewelry design is a new avenue for me.  I am self-taught—I’ve read some books, I’ve read lots of online articles, and I’ve practiced, practiced, practiced.  I have taken to this new enterprise like a fish to water, hence the name The Electric Catfish (thanks Ian for helping me come up with that).  Like most of the new projects I take on, I have become a bit obsessed!  These days I like nothing better than to sit down at my workbench, surrounded by my supplies.  I look at all the shiny wire and beautiful beads and my mind starts to work and the ideas flow.

With the high cost of silver and gold, I tend to use alternative metals in my jewelry making.  Not only does this make designing jewelry more affordable for myself, but it allows me to sell my designs at a price point that is more affordable to the consumer.  You will see silver plate, brass, copper, aluminum, stainless steel, pewter, and colored craft wire in many different hues.  I do use some silver plate wire that is nickel free for those with allergies.  If the nickel free wire was used it will be noted in the description.  I do have plans for the near future to start using some sterling silver wire, so stay tuned!  While I do purchase some ear wires and findings, many of the ear wires, headpins, and clasps you will find on my jewelry are handmade specifically for each piece.

All the beads in my jewelry are glass, metal, wood, or semi-precious stones.  I also make some of my components from polymer clay, which I have found is an art form in its self.

Any of my crocheted accessories will make a stylish addition to your wardrobe.  Many of the patterns are my own—you won't find them elsewhere!  Snag them while you can, they won't last long.

The Electric Catfish is a brick and mortar store, located at Frontier Town in the Arts & Crafts Mall, in Romeo MI.  Visit the store if you can.  If you can’t--if you are interested in any of the designs that I show on this web page or facebook, you can contact me through the email address above or facebook and we can make arrangements to have the product shipped to you.  I take payment through PayPal.  Shipping is $5 to anywhere in the continental United States for orders up to $49, and free for orders over $50. Rates vary for other parts of theworld, dependent upon your location.

New Product in the Shop

So, I finally bit the bullet and spent some money on sterling silver.   I created a beautiful pair of double "S" flourish earrings.  When I pulled them out of my tumbler, I was astonished at the shine!  They turned out beautifully. The picture below does not do them justice.  Look for more sterling silver jewelry in my shop in the near future.

I have recently turned my attention towards metal work.  Metalsmithing is an intriguing art form and gives a jewelry artist a whole new arena to work in.  I have some metals to work with, unfortunately I've found I don't have the correct tools to get the job done in an efficient manner.  I am currently awaiting delivery of said tools!  I have recently finished metalsmithing a couple pairs of copper and sterling earrings that look like Calla Lillies--look for them, and other very cool metalwork jewelry, in the shop, soon.

    • sizes E – J ($5.99 retail at Michaels)
    • sizes D – K ($9.74 retail at Joanne’s)
  • Blunt needle(s), also known as yarn needles
